Today I want to share some insights of the Helios team so people can truly understand our vision!
We, the team, are BJJ fanatics ourselves and love to compete. This love of competition and the sport brought us to where we are now. Delivering a new event and sharing our love and appreciation through our vision, putting the competitor first.
We wanted to bring a brand new concept with a fresh look to the scene and we succeeded in doing so. Helios stands for an open event, totally different than any experience you’ve ever had. With an 80% submission rate we delivered, as promised, one of the most exciting, if not the most exciting event of the year!
An average fight time of 4 mins 34 secs never made it possible for the spectator to be bored. If you are watching on the left, you missed the submission on your right.
Next to that, we decentralize the referee’s power by returning it to the competitors. They are responsible for the fight and the outcome, the referee makes sure everything “proceeds” safely.
We dedicate a lot of our time and effort in creating this unique experience for you guys. After every competition we raise our expectations. At the evaluation, right after the event, we start by saying what we didn’t like and what went wrong. What can we improve to make it even better.
Defining this as our starting point, redirects our focus on improvement and innovation. Naming and facing our biggest errors shows us the long path we still have to take to be where we want to be. But if you love what you do, and you do it with passion, this task comes with a smile. After discussing these subjects we move on to what the competitor, you guys, told us. “What did they like”, “what didn’t they like”, “what were the first impressions”, “how was the service”, and so on. If you guys share your experience with us and with the rest of the world, than we can implement your ideas in feedback in our event, in our concept, even in our mindset. We are grateful for every feedback we can get, because we do it for you!
This year we raised the bar a lot. We updated our website and invested a lot in creating a better system and communication. To take it further, we want to provide new challenges for ourselves and provide better rewards for the winners of the competition. Goodies, better service, bigger rewards, you name it, it’s on our task board.
I just wanted to share these thoughts to give you some idea of how we think and how we process the evaluation of our event.
Hoped you liked it and join our next event coming 25/03!
